Prof. Martin Reisslein at Arizona State University is looking for Ph.D. students to carry out the ongoing video trace research project.

Intensive mentoring
Teaching Assistant (TA) position. The TA position requires the supervision of undergraduate lab sessions for 20 hours/week. The position provides out-of-state tuition waiver and a stipend (of approximately $1650/month). You must pass the SPEAK test to qualify for the position. (RA positions which allow for an exclusive focus on research are pending for the project
Living and working in the sunny and warm Arizona.

Requirements

Experience with software video encoders/decoders. You must be proficient in modifying and augmenting software (primarily C) implementation of current video encoders and decoders (e.g., MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.263+). Experience in developing divx is also helpful.
System administration skills and experience. The video trace research project involves the administration of a Sun Enterprise file server running Unix (Solaris), several Linux workstations, and several Windows workstations. You must ne able to operate and administer these computing facilities and the network connecting them.
